Privacy Policy — Auriane

Last updated: May 17, 2026

Auriane is a mobile app that lets parents record their children’s firsts and lasts (first step, first word, last feed, etc.). This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with your information.

In one sentence

Auriane has no servers. Your data lives on your phone. If you enable cloud backup, a copy is sent to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive (your account, not ours).

Data controller

Auriane is published by an independent developer.

What data does the app process?

The app records, on your device only:

This information is stored in a local database encrypted by your phone’s operating system, and in the app’s private file folder for photos and memos.

Data sent to servers

None to Auriane servers — we don’t have any. Specifically:

Cloud backup (optional). If you enable cloud backup in the app, Auriane sends a copy of your journal (children information, events, attached photos and memos, preferences) to your own iCloud Drive (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android). That is your account, managed by Apple or Google; we have no access to it. This backup copy is not encrypted by Auriane: it appears in your iCloud or Google Drive like any other file you store there. An end-to-end encryption option will be offered later; in the meantime, only enable this backup if you are comfortable with this level of protection (which matches the protection of other files in your Drive). You can delete this backup at any time from the app’s Settings → Backup screen.

Permissions requested

The app may request, when you use the corresponding features:

You can deny or revoke each of these permissions at any time from your phone’s settings.

iCloud backup (iOS)

On iPhone, the app’s private files (photos and audio memos attached to events) are included in your device’s automatic iCloud backup, if you have it turned on. That backup is managed by Apple and encrypted according to its own rules; we have no access to it. You can exclude it in Settings → [Your name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup.

Data concerning minors

The app inherently processes information about children. That information is entered by a parent, on their personal device, and is only accessible to them. It leaves the phone only if the parent explicitly enables cloud backup, in which case it is copied to the parent’s iCloud Drive or Google Drive account (and nowhere else).

Your rights

Since no data leaves your device, you keep full control:

Changes

If this policy is updated, the new version will replace this one at the same URL and the “last updated” date above will be updated.
